1. Problem Context & Objectives
Commercial kitchens generate tons of edible surplus daily while nearby shelters face food insecurity — because nobody connects the two. The problem is not supply; it is coordination within a city.
2. Technical Architecture & Implementation
Built a Django platform with PostGIS spatial proximity routing that connects surplus-food donors directly with verified recipient charities based on distance and pickup windows.
3. Outcomes, Benchmarks & Empirical Validation
Shortened the redistribution cycle between donor kitchens and recipient shelters by routing on geography instead of manual phone calls, turning a sustainability idea into working software.
